Combating Poverty through Vocational Training – Oshodi Vocational Centre (Supported by Sahara Foundation)
Vocational education is a neglected area in the Nigerian school system. In a bid to ensure that students are given the opportunity to learn additional skills, Sahara Group partnered with Kasher to provide a state of the art Home Economics Lab in Oshodi Vocational Centre.
The centre currently serves over 1000 pupils from 15 primary schools per week and registered adults within the community. Ultimately, the project provides opportunities for pupils and adults to gain culinary skills (cooking and baking) through the construction of a modern, fully equipped Home Economics laboratory for skills transfer. This will increase their future chances of financial stability. The project seeks to partner with Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) in 2016.
