Nigeria’s newly empowered Youth
I spent an incredible two days this week facilitating and supporting at Lagos worksho of the Nigerian Bottling Company’s Youth Empowered Nigeria programme. The programme, expertly executed by the amazing Kasher Consulting Limited , has been designed to provide Nigerian Youth with life and business skills so they have the foundation with which to self appraise and chart an intentional course for their lives as well as the business tools to succeed as employees and/or entrepreneurs.
The Good
We have an abundance of youth, their energy is palpable and even contagious, the possibilities are unending. When trained in the right path, they can achieve anything.
The Better
There is an increasing awareness that more needs to be done by Nigerians, and the time to do it is now!
We know it, the private sector knows it, the youth know it and are willing to take up the plough.
The Best
With awareness comes knowledge and willpower. Every single attendee attested to receiving definitive learning that has spurred them to be better and deliberate in their actions going forward; immediate response was for instance, a conscious decision to be on time, boldness to speak up and purposeful interaction and networking.
I believe them; they turned up dressed for the ‘workshop’ each day, the sessions started on time every day, learning outcomes were evident in the quality of Q&A and attendees stayed till the end of each day’s session.
I enjoyed facilitating, I enjoyed supporting the project, I met amazing young people and made new friends in the project executing team.
I am buzzing with excitement at the number of newly empowered Youth that will drive the change we so desperately seek in our country.
