Heifer International І AYUTE Africa Program Assessment

The Agriculture, Youth, Technology (AYUTE) Africa Program is a long-term program funded by Heifer International focusing on catalysing the strategic shift needed to secure a sustainable and dynamic future for Africa’s smallholder farmers and agricultural sector by working with young African entrepreneurs to develop innovations and technological solutions. The program is also expected to improve food security and significantly reduce poverty in selected African countries.

The assessment was conducted in selected countries, states, regions, and communities where AYUTE partner organisations are supporting smallholder farmers. Our role was to assess the impact of the agricultural innovations on smallholder farmers, as well as the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of the AYUTE program in general.

We assessed the impact of the agri-tech innovations on smallholder farmers in Nigeria, Kenya, and Senegal. In addition, we assessed the organizational capacity of the 5 Agri-tech innovators and how their project model benefits the smallholder farmers.

We prepared a detailed report outlining the key findings from each organisation, the social return on investment, and recommendations to scale the project.
